Virus Detection by PCR

As recommended in “Points to Consider on the Characterisation of Cell Lines Used to Produce Biologicals”, Texcell provides a wide range of quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (q-PCR) tests for the detection of human viruses. We use TaqMan® PCR to count the number of copies of the virus sequence.

The PCR enables rapid detection of specific viruses in test products. Due to the assay's sensitivity, Texcell’s procedures take great care to avoid any cross-contamination of the end product. Reagents, samples and PCR products are prepared and handled in three separate laboratories and a comprehensive set of negative controls is included to ensure that contamination has been avoided or detected. For RNA viruses, after genome extraction from the test article, the RNA is incubated with the reverse transcriptase to form a complementary DNA (cDNA), which is further amplified by q-PCR (RTq-PCR).

We are always generated development of new adventitious virus detection by q-PCR, then please do not hesitate to contact us for further information and specific queries.
