A reporter gene is a gene that is attached to a regulatory sequence (promoter) of another gene of interest (from bacteria, virus, animal genome…). In this assay the reporter gene code for an oxidative enzyme (like Luciferase) that convert a substrate into a product that can be quantified by measuring the released light.
Reporter Gene Analysis is often used for
- Gene therapy
- Pre-clinical R&D
- Potency assays
